All our deliveries are in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CBM, the Central Association of Furniture Manufacturers in the Netherlands. In purchasing Gealux furniture you have chosen a quality product. Any defects detectable on delivery of the furniture must be reported to your Gealux dealer within 5 days at the latest. If you require service following this period we recommend that you approach your home furnishing supplier, taking this booklet as well as your personal guarantee and service number. In most cases your home furnishing supplier will be able to evaluate and/or rectify your problem on the spot.
The Gealux guarantee period will come into effect on the date of the invoice from Gealux. Gealux provide a full 3-year guarantee on manufacturing defects. In the case of well-founded claims relating to the upholstery (with the exception of fabric or leather sent to us for use in making up the item) the guarantee provisions taper off over a period of 3 years, as this is strongly dependent on use and maintenance. The following provisions apply:
During a period of one year following invoice date, all costs of repair or replacement as well as transport will be borne entirely by GEALUX.
During the second year following invoice date, 2/3 of the costs of repair or replacement and transport will be met by GEALUX.
During the third year following invoice date, 1/3 of the costs of repair or replacement and transport will be met by GEALUX.
Where motors and mechanical parts are concerned, GEALUX will take account in our guarantee provisions of the normal level of depreciation for consumer goods, namely 10% of the value of the relevant component per annum, commencing after the 2nd year following invoice date, in the event that a direct claim is made against the Gealux guarantee. The guarantee on batteries is for 2 years and is applicable only where the user instructions provided have been complied with in full. Timely and full charging of the battery is of major importance for the durability of the battery.
THE FOLLOWING ARE EXCLUDED FROM THE PROVISIONS OF THE GUARANTEE:
• Normal wear and tear and discolouration of fabrics and leather.
• Certain medications can result in the perspiration containing substances which can affect upholstery. Such damage is excluded from the guarantee.
• Damage through improper use, inadequate or incorrect maintenance or maintenance carried out outside the supervision of Gealux.
• Irregularities in colour and texture, marks from insect bites and other natural variations in the leather. These features are the natural characteristics of leather.
• Small design elements and stripes in furniture fabrics can not and will not be precisely aligned.
• Creasing of leather and upholstery fabrics is inevitable. No claims relating to creases less than around 2 cm can be considered.
• Minor variations in the shade of different areas of leather used to upholster furniture can not be avoided.
• Application of anti-soiling treatments/coatings to fabrics will invalidate the guarantee.
• Battery defects where the instructions provided have not been followed.
• Defects in motors resulting from improper use of the furniture.
• Mechanical defects resulting from improper use of the furniture.
